“Our goal was to understand the burden of myotonia in patients with non-dystrophic myotonia (NDM) on the quality of life of patients and caregivers. By then, there was very little research done on this rare and underserved patient population. admedicum had supported us before using a mixed-method survey for myotonia patients (MYOPATH) and helped us to further raise awareness on the importance of understanding patient burden through an international online survey (IMPACT), co-creating a value for the community together with patient experts and medical experts.
We published and presented the outcomes of this research in collaboration with admedicum. It was a partnership of outstanding quality throughout accompanied by a passion to serve the patient community and striving for innovation and creative ways of finding solutions together!”

As Deutsche Leberhilfe e.V., we have launched the “Hepatitis-free Cologne” project and are happy to be able to count on admedicum’s support here.
The aim of the project is to diagnose people with hepatitis infections in Cologne and the surrounding area at an early stage and to give them faster access to specialist treatment. Hepatitis infections are easily treatable today. However, they often lead to no symptoms for a long time and are often only recognised when the liver is already severely damaged.
Our project “Hepatitis-freies Köln (English: Hepatitis-free Cologne)” wants to change this. To this end, an action alliance led by Deutsche Leberhilfe e.V. (German Liver Aid) has joined forces, which now includes three specialists for liver diseases, three pharmaceutical manufacturing companies and admedicum.
Before we got to know admedicum, the start of the project had been delayed several times. Another agency, which had initially been commissioned, had failed to keep promises several times and finally withdrew altogether. In this difficult situation, we received the saving recommendation of a project partner: “Why don’t you contact admedicum? They are good.”
We did and knew from the very first meeting: It fits. Mr Reimann and his team, Mr Hoenig and Ms Oster, convinced us immediately with their professionalism and commitment.
After three quarters of a year of close and constructive cooperation, we can say that things have been going well since admedicum joined the project. Now a second project phase is planned, in which we want to expand the educational work for people affected by hepatitis and address vulnerable groups in particular. We are happy to continue to have admedicum as a strong partner at our side.

"The Sklerodermie e.V. in connection with the scleroderma experts of the DNSS (German Network for Systemic Scleroderma) asked admedicum for support in conducting a survey among more than 1200 scleroderma patients in Germany. The aim was to investigate the extent to which scleroderma patients benefit from infusion therapy, which is recommended but currently not refinanced and therefore difficult to obtain.
The questionnaire developed by the Sklerodermie Selbsthilfe e.V. and experts in scleroderma was checked for plausibility by admedicum, supplemented, adapted, and prepared in such a way that it reached as many patients as possible in a short time, both on paper and via an online survey. admedicum did not only have considerable empathy and understood the problems and talked with us as if we would known each other already for years and let us feel that we were all on equal eye level.
The survey showed that a high percentage of patients benefit enormously from the therapy – medically and in everyday life. We finally had in our hands what we had known and experienced for years – but never in numbers and never according to different criteria could we question and evaluate.
The DNSS experts were enthusiastic about the results and admedicum’s competence and scientific analysis on the basis of the survey were well done. Without admedicum, we could not have done this project. This can be an important first step for the approval of the therapy and a cost assumption by the health insurance companies and thus an important step towards improved care of scleroderma patients.”

“During his time as CEO of Mukoviszidose e.V., the German Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Association (2002 – 2014), and as Managing Director of our research affiliate, the Mukoviszidose Institut GmbH (2006 – 2015), I came to work with Andreas Reimann. I am the father of a son with CF and I am grateful for what Andreas has contributed to the lives of CF patients and their loved ones. Andreas was able to combine a humane attitude and professionalism for the benefit of patients. He helped the association to an even higher reputation nationally and internationally. He was able to raise awareness in the public and promote support in health policy for the goals of CF patients.
This in turn helped to bring CF into the focus of research and medical care. Thanks to his prudent financial management and his good relationship with major donors, the association was able to raise sufficient funds to promote research and therapy and to support important international projects. Andreas always kept the impact on patients and their families in mind when making research and care a priority of our activities.
He also encouraged patient activists in the association and cooperated with pharmaceutical companies on an equal footing, always keeping in mind that the transparency and independence of the patient organization could never be compromised. His voluntary work as Vice President and later as President of ACHSE, the German umbrella organization for rare diseases, underlined how much he cared for everyone with rare diseases. If we overcome cystic fibrosis one day, Dr. Reimann has played his part. He reminded decision-makers in Germany of their responsibility for the lives of patients living with serious chronic diseases.”
