Patient-led Education and Awareness Campaign

Supporting the German patient-driven initiative "Hepatitis-freies Köln" to improve early diagnosis and care for people living with hepatitis through collaboration with industry and health care partners.

Situation

Hepatitis is a treatable disease, yet it remains widely undiagnosed because early stages often show no symptoms. Many people only learn about their infection once significant liver damage has occurred, leading to reduced quality of life and higher health care costs. Awareness, early testing, and easier access to specialized care are therefore essential.

By collaborating with health care providers and industry partners, this German patient-led initiative aimed to help raise awareness, encourage timely diagnoses, and contribute to improving care pathways.

Objective

The creation of a joint project and initiative with various stakeholders that achieves the necessary public awareness and knowledge to improve patient care. The project management and professional support is outsourced to Partners4Patients Foundation* as a neutral, compliant and experienced company with the necessary professional resources to successfully support the patient organization in the realization of the initiative.

*Further information on our work through the Partners4Patients Foundation can be found in the “With Patients” section.

Our Solution

1
Drawing up an overall project plan in collaboration with the patient organization and implementation of the project management with focus on the long-term establishment of the initiative.
2
General set-up and launch of the initiative in consultation with the various stakeholders involved. This includes the development and implementation of different materials like a logo, website and patient flyer.
3
External communication of the initiative as well as approach of additional stakeholders to support the initiative, increase awareness and enrich knowledge.
4
Enhancing the referral of patients diagnosed by general practitioners to specialists by making specialized practices easy to find through an online database, distributing flyers with their addresses, and running a public awareness campaign with posters and cards across the city, including in restaurants and bars.

Outcomes and Impact

1
High visibility and empowerment for patients with or at risk for a hepatitis infection.
2
Laying the foundation for a long-term and comprehensive initiative with the potential to spread and expand.

Before we got to know admedicum, the start of the project had been delayed several times. Another agency, which had initially been commissioned, had failed to keep promises several times and finally withdrew altogether. In this difficult situation, we received the saving recommendation of a project partner: “Why don’t you contact admedicum? They are good.”
